The Role
You will lead a delivery team consisting of 5 skilled engineers who are responsible for managing a range of technologies across our data centre and cloud infrastructure. Your primary objective will be to ensure the stability and reliability of key components in our production environments while overseeing the continuous delivery of new and innovative technologies.
The Service Engineering team operates as a platform delivery team with a strong focus on “Platform as a Product” principles. This means that in addition to managing the technical aspects of the team’s responsibilities, you will also play a crucial role in driving a product mindset within the team, fostering collaboration between platform teams and ensuring that the services provided meet the needs of the organisation.
What You Will Be Doing?
- Manage and develop the Service Engineering team, providing effective leadership and support.
- Ensure the stability, availability, and optimal performance of our production environment.
- Collaborate closely with the development and platform teams to implement improvements and optimise system performance.
- Drive the delivery of high-quality technical projects, taking ownership of project planning, execution, and successful completion.
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis to address system failures and performance degradation.
- Adhere to engineering best practices, quality standards, and security guidelines.
- Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to support the organisation’s technology initiatives.
What Skills Will You Have?
- Excellent working knowledge of storage, server technologies (physical and virtual) and data centre operations.
- Proficiency operating with Infrastructure as Code using industry standard tooling; preferably Terraform.
- Proven experience implementing and supporting AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Proven experience managing and leading a team of engineers, preferably in a similar sized team
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
